A nossa vida no Algarve!
Aqui, no Algarve, a vida é ótima e mais calma do que na Inglaterra! Nós visitamos o Algarve desde 2010, e sempre passamos um tempo relaxante aqui. Os portugueses são muito simpáticos e também gostam muitos dos ingleses. A comida aqui é sempre mais fresca do que na Inglaterra, especialmente o peixe, que é pescado apenas a alguns quilómetros daqui. De amanhã tomamos o pequeno almoço fora na piscina, depois nadamos, costumamos andar a pé na praia e desfrutamos do sol, que está sempre brilhante aqui! À tarde quando o sol está mais forte, podemos dormir a sesta, depois quando o sol se põe, costumamos ir para a vila de Albufeira para jantar num dos nossos restaurantes favoritos. Os nossos restaurantes favoritos são tipicamente Portugueses com especialidades como Cataplanas, Bacalhau e Robalo. A maioria dos pratos é servida com batatas cozidas e salada fresca. É muito saudável e barato para comer aqui. Mais tarde, depois de comer, há muitos bares, discotecas e tascas que pode visitor e passar uma boa noite falando com os portugueses, que são sempre agradáveis e felizes em ajudá-lo com a língua portuguesa!! O algarve está a duas horas e meia de Lisboa, de comboio, a minha cidade europeia favorita. Também, estamos apenas a duas horas de carro de Sevilha, uma das cidades mais bonitas da Espanha. E claro, há golfe aqui, muito golfe. O Algarve é um paraíso para os golfistas e os campos aqui estão sempre em ótimo estado. Você pode jogar golfe aqui o ano inteiro!! Nós adoramos viver aqui em Portugal, nós conhecemos muitos amigos Portugueses, e quanto mais aprendo sobre a língua e a cultura da Ana, mais amigos fazemos!! Our life in the Algarve!
Here, in the Algarve, life is great and calmer than in England! We have been visiting the Algarve since 2010, and we always spend a relaxing time here. The Portuguese are very friendly and also like English people a lot. The food here is always fresher than in England, especially the fish, which is caught just a few miles away. In the morning we have breakfast outside by the pool, then swim, walk on the beach and enjoy the sun, which is always bright here! In the afternoon, when the sun is stronger, we can have a siesta, then when the sun goes down, we usually go to the village of Albufeira for dinner at one of our favourite restaurants. Our favourite restaurants are typically Portuguese with specialties such as Cataplanas, Cod and Sea bass. Most dishes are served with boiled potatoes and fresh salad. It is very healthy and cheap to eat here. Later, after eating, there are many bars, clubs and taverns that you can visit and spend a good night talking to the Portuguese, who are always pleasant and happy to help you with the Portuguese language!! The algarve is two and a half hours from Lisbon, by train, my favorite European city. Also, we are just a two-hour drive from Seville, one of the most beautiful cities in Spain. And of course, there is golf here, a lot of golf. The Algarve is a golfers paradise and the courses here are always in great condition. You can play golf here all year round!! We love living here in Portugal, we meet a lot of Portuguese friends, and the more I learn about Ana’s language and culture, the more friends we make!! I have included some photos that can give a taste of our life here!!

Diário de viagem
Nós apanhámos o ferry que atravessa o Canal da Mancha e chegámos a Santander à uma e quinze na quinta feira, dia um de julho. O tempo estava bom e o mar estava calmo. Nós viajámos com os nossos amigos Simon e Alison. A viagem a Portugal pelas serras foi muito linda. Nós chegámos ao parque de Montesinho às oito e meia e depois nós jantámos no restaurante Solar Bragançano em Bragança. A ementa estava ótima! O nosso hotel era uma casa da serra muito antiga. No dia seguinte levantei-me ao som do cantar dos muitos pássaros. O sol levantou-se em cima da pequena igreja da aldeia. Que lindo! Nós viajámos para Aveiro para visitar a cidade onde os avós da Ana moram. Nós comemos broinhas de ovos moles de Aveiro. Delicioso! À noite nós ficámos na adega da Quinta da Lapa em Manique do Intendente perto de Santarém. Os vinhos e as comidas eram ótimas! Fizemos uma tour na adega com o proprietário. Muito bom! Nós comprámos algumas garrafas de vinho também. Na nossa viagem para Algarve almoçámos no restaurante Quebra na Vila de Milefontes. Boa comida e perto do mar. Nós chegámos a nossa casa na Quinta da Boa Nova às seis horas. Desde que chegámos aqui nós estamos a relaxar, gostamos dos restaurantes, cozinhamos e nadamos. Eu vi os golfinhos no mar outra vez. Acho que sou uma sereia! Nós temos agora uma nova lambreta electrica. Nós gostamos de viajar no Algarve na lambreta. Gostamos de sentir o vento nos nossos cabelos e o cheiro das flores ! Nós curtimos as nossas férias!

Travel diary
We took the ferry across the English Channel and arrived in Santander at one-fifteen on Thursday, the 1st of July. The weather was fine and the sea was calm. We traveled with our friends Simon and Alison. The trip to Portugal through the mountains was very beautiful. We arrived at Montesinho park at half past eight and then had dinner at the Solar Bragançano restaurant in Bragança. The menu was great! Our hotel was a very old mountain house. The next day I got up to the sound of the many birds singing. The sun rose over the small village church. How beautiful! We traveled to Aveiro to visit the city where Ana’s grandparents live. We ate soft egg rolls from Aveiro. Delicious! In the evening we stayed at the Quinta da Lapa winery in Manique do Intendente near Santarém. The wines and food were great! We toured the winery with the owner. Very good! We bought some bottles of wine too. On our trip to Algarve we had lunch at Quebra restaurant in Vila de Milefontes. Good food and close to the sea. We arrived at our house in Quinta da Boa Nova at six o’clock. Since we got here we’ve been relaxing, we like the restaurants, we cook and swim. I saw dolphins in the sea again. I think I’m a mermaid! We now have a new electric scooter. We like to travel in the Algarve on the scooter. We like to feel the wind in our hair and the smell of flowers! We enjoyed our vacations!

A minha visita ao Porto
Todos os anos eu e os meus amigos visitamos um país diferente por um fim de semana. Alguns anos atrás, decidimos visitar o Porto. Alugámos um apartamento para um fim de semana que tinha uma piscina na cobertura, e vistas sobre a cidade. Nós visitámos a famosa livraria ‘Lello’. Lello é uma das livrarias mais antigas do mundo, frequentemente comum como uma das mais belas livrarias do mundo e um referência local para visitar em Portugal. Também uma fonte de inspiração para Harry Potter. Uma das atividades que mais gostei foi uma visita à fábrica do Porto, chama se ‘Grahams’. Fizemos uma tour pelas adegas e também uma degustação de vinho do Porto. Optamos por ‘degustação de vinho do Porto premium’ – uma degustação privada na sala da biblioteca e bar. O vinho do Porto estava incrível, e ficámos um pouco bêbadas no final! Depois disso, almoçámos na esplanada. As vistas são totalmente espetaculares! E o menu de degustação estava delicioso – incluía atum, queijo, bolo de chocolate, café e muitas outras coisas saborosas. Também conseguimos fazer algumas compras e passar uma tarde na praia. É necessário dirigir um pouco para chegar à praia. O que mais gostei no Porto foi o verde e cenário e a historia.
My visit to Porto
Every year my friends and I visit a different country for a weekend. A few years ago, we decided to visit Porto. We rented an apartment for a weekend that had a rooftop pool and views over the city. We visited the famous ‘Lello’ bookstore. Lello is one of the oldest bookstores in the world, often common as one of the most beautiful bookstores in the world and a local reference to visit in Portugal. Also a source of inspiration for Harry Potter. One of the activities I enjoyed the most was a visit to the Porto factory, called ‘Grahams’. We did a tour of the cellars and also a Port wine tasting. We opted for the ‘premium Port wine tasting’ – a private tasting in the library room and bar. The port was amazing, and we got a little drunk at the end! After that, we had lunch on the terrace. The views are totally spectacular! And the tasting menu was delicious – it included tuna, cheese, chocolate cake, coffee and many other tasty things. We were also able to do some shopping and spend an afternoon at the beach. It is necessary to drive a bit to get to the beach. What I liked most about Porto was the greenery and scenery and history.

4. Marloe's story
This is the view from our house in the Algarve! Liam and his friends are njoying the view at the top of the stairs. On the left side you find Olhão/Faro and on the right side you find São Brás De Alportel. At the bottom there is a large swimming pool to cool off on hot days. The area is green all year round and very beautiful and calm. But there is also a lot to do for example: Playing golf, swimming, visiting sports canters, shopping at various stores, playing football. Don’t forget the fabulous restaurants, eat fresh fish and drink white wine. We definitely love going to the beach. We like life outside.
Esta é a vista da nossa casa no Algarve! O Liam e os seus amigos estão a apreciar a vista no topo das escadas. No lado esquerdo você encontra Olhão/Faro e no lado direito você encontra São Brás De Alportel. No fundo há uma piscina grande, para se refrescar em dias quentes. A área é verde durante todo o ano e muito bonita e calma. Mas também há muito para fazer por exemplo: Jogar golfe, nadar, visitar centros desportivos, ir às compras em várias lojas, jogar futebol. Não se esqueça dos fabulosos restaurantes, comer peixe fresco e beber vinho branco. Com certeza nos adoramos ir à praia. Nós gostamos da vida lá fora.

Um dia típico em Portugal
Num dia típico em Portugal começo com uma corrida ao longo da praia ou talvez no parque nacional da Ria Formosa. Vou ao ginásio mas prefiro correr. Preciso de levantar-me cedo antes de estar muito quente. Corro de minha casa ao aeroporto de Faro através das salinas. Talvez veja os flamingos brancos. Uma vez vi golfinhos no mar e isso foi muito especial. Depois tomo o pequeno – almoço fora. Vou ao mercado dos peixes na Quarteira. Gosto ir a Loulé porque o mercado é magnífico e tem algumas lojas interessantes. O melhor dia para visitar o mercardo em Loulé é sábado de manhã. Se decidirmos fazer um churrasco compramos peixe e camarão. Também compramos pão e salada e vinho (claro!) Gosto de vinho verde mas as vezes bebo gin & tonic. Durante as tardes vou à praia ,nado, leio um livro e apanho sol. Se o tempo não estiver bom, por vezes vamos a Tavira ou à Costa de Prata. Embora a Costa de Prata seja muito bonita e não haja muitos turistas, há muitos surfistas. Às vezes vamos a Lisboa de comboio ou a Sevilha de carro ou autocarro. Às vezes vou a Portugal com os meus amigos do clube de ténis e jogamos ténis de manhã. Vamos para Faro com mais frequência e por vezes ao Porto um ou dois dias. Eu definitivamente recomendo uma viagem ao Porto.
A typical day in Portugal
On a typical day in Portugal I start with a run along the beach or perhaps in the Ria Formosa national park. I go to the gym but I prefer to run. I need to get up early before it gets too hot. I run from my house to Faro airport through the salt flats. Maybe see the white flamingos. I once saw dolphins in the sea and that was very special. Then I have breakfast outside. I go to the fish market in Quarteira. I like going to Loulé because the market is great and has some interesting shops. The best day to visit the market in Loulé is Saturday morning. If we decide to have a barbecue, we buy fish and shrimp. We also bought bread and salad and wine (of course!) I like green wine but sometimes I drink gin & tonic. In the afternoons I go to the beach, swim, read a book and sunbathe. If the weather is not good, we sometimes go to Tavira or the Silver Coast. Although the Silver Coast is very beautiful and there are not many tourists, there are many surfers. Sometimes we go to Lisbon by train or to Seville by car or bus. Sometimes I go to Portugal with my friends from the tennis club and we play tennis in the morning. We go to Faro more often and sometimes to Porto for a day or two. I definitely recommend a trip to Porto.
